We went to the OBX (Outer Banks) of North Carolina on Thursday & returned home on Friday night. We were the judges for the OBX Marathon Art competition. How cool is that?! We had a great time. We stayed at the home of one of the board members of the Dare County Arts Council, which was right on the beach. We got to walk on the beach in perfect weather Thursday evening and Friday morning. We looked for sea glass (not much to be found) and shells (plenty of small ones and broken ones) and enjoyed the sound of the waves. Not many people at this time of year. I have to include the picture of the raven (?) and the gull having a bit of a noisy competition for some bit of food.

The house we stayed in was located in Nags Head near milepost 14. It was a short drive over to Manteo where we juried the show. On the causeway to Manteo (which is on Roaoke Island, think LOST COLONY) we ate dinner at the Lone Cedar restaurant. We had the best crab cakes.
